[Repost from 2009 – due to updated pictures]

Every state is famous for their own local food, especially when one do travel to Melaka, ‘Satay Celup’ is a food that you would rarely miss. There are numerous hype over Satay Celup in Melaka from years ago till now which is heavily commercialize. Comparing to Penang version, their soup base is made of satay penut sauce as per compare to Penang on clear soup base with 3 sauces to choose from as the sides.

satay celup (1)

Upon arriving to their old destination, I stumble this outlet on my right as it seems like a new shop and I pull over as it is rather empty when I reach. I remember clearly that their outlet is opposite a furniture shop and later only found out that this is another branch of them.

satay celup (2)

This is the ‘Satay Sauce base soup’ which is abit thick, with peanut base, yet a bit spicy. Perfect soup base.

satay celup (3)

Now their system is more in place where there are food trays to place all your chosen sticks from the fridge to be place on it instead of plate.

satay celup (4)

Variety of ingredients for you to choose from, as from the side which is fried items to those place inside fridge.

satay celup (5)

One fridge is filled with veggies and seafood and the other is meat.

satay celup (6)

satay celup (7)

satay celup (8)

satay celup (9)

satay celup (10)

Ingredients seems lesser compare to last I had was 2009 and if I remember correctly, peanut soup base sauce is thicker, slightly mild spicy and quite fragrant as per compare to now, which is quite slightly diluted.

satay celup (11)

I was sharing table with another couple and they felt the same way too. Quality drop?? This question shall leave it for you to judge on.

satay celup (12)

Nevertheless, still one of a kind street food to go after and I have miss out this for the past few trips due to events that I am attending and could not fit onto the time.

Choon Prawn Mee House @ Taman Paramount, PJ

Back to basic is always nice, especially when manage to find some nice street food related to Penang Food. Did pop by here couple of times whenever I am craving for simple bowl of Penang Loh Mee or Hokkien mee as got influence by KYSpeaks with his constant visit to this place.

choon prawn mee (1)

Choon Prawn Mee is tuck in this busiest food district in Taman Paramount during day time as Kedai Kopi O&S is one of the busiest along the stretch.

choon prawn mee (2)

This concept is quite similar to Penang Green House Hokkien Mee where you can choose to add on or a mix combination of ingredients into your noodle.

choon prawn mee (3)

choon prawn mee (4)

choon prawn mee (5)

I must give credit to their Duck Meat Koey Teow Soup which is quite near to authentic Penang version. Simple clear soup that pack with flavour and I am not a fish ball lover, however this is pretty good as its smooth and bouncy. Fried Garlic oil do add a bit of punch into the soup.

choon prawn mee (6)

Loh Mee is one of a authentic version that serve in a thick soupy base in dark sauce. Some might like it some might not. However is one of a food that will soon to extinct for a Penang street food. Add in garlic, and their home made chili, definately it would not run too far.

choon prawn mee (7)

Soup is thick enough to ensure its Penang version.

choon prawn mee (8)

Another style to enjoy our Penang Hokkien Prawn mee is to get a Ying Yeong Soup whereby Prawn soup and loh mee soup base mix together.

Its a place to get a decent Penang hawker food.

Xiang Fu Xiang Cheng Hunan Chinese Restaurant @ The Scots Garden, Old Klang Road

I am a big fan of spicy food. If you mention anything about Sze Chuan food, I would rarely decline your invitation to go for foot hunt. This was a recent thing that my best friend bought me to this place as we ran out of ideas on what to eat. Located facing the main road of Old Klang Road, at level one you will find this Xiang Fu Xiang Cheng Hunan Chinese Restaurant.

Hunan (1)

Its a shop that sells pretty authentic Hunan food which means most of their food is spicy base but not as spicy as Sze Chuan yet for this you can still taste the aromatic of their classic flavours.

Hunan (2)

Hunan (3)

Price here are pretty decent base on the portion that they are serving.

Hunan (4)

Their signature soup is not to be missed – Signature Pig Stomach Chicken Soup (Big) @ RM 108 serve nearly 10 pax. Pungent in flavour, slightly thick, making your stomach warm with hits sweet base from those cooking hours that they have.

Hunan (5)

Next is their Signature Braised Pork @ RM 38. Cook in their clear soy base, pork cook to perfection as its so soft that fats nearly melt in your mouth, as the soy base gravy I drink it like soup as it mix with salted veggie at the base.

Hunan (6)

Hunan (7)

Hot Plate Japanese Tofu @ RM 18. Pretty decent as serve with pippin hot plate, with a bed of bean sprouts at the bottom and their home made gravy is great.

Hunan (8)

Stir Fried Choy Sum @ RM 15 is just a plate of normal fried vegetable.

Hunan (9)

This is another dish must not miss as Tiger Stripes Pork Braised Meat @ RM 22. Cook differently as this gravy is thick, slightly sweet with salty end. Pork quality here seems pretty good.

Hunan (10)

Hunan (11)

Another of my favourite is Sour Pickled Vegetable Fish (fish you can chose fish of the day or better quality) Forgot what is the fish we oredered as the whole fish + this is RM 68. Mild spicy of dry chilli, salted sour soup base with salted vegetable, garlic cloves and some Sze Chuan Spice.

Currently this is one of my favourite China food that offer pretty good food and price is reasonable. Came here 3 times in a row.

Klang is another town that is pack with great food. Just done a photoshoot in the morning and suddenly thought of why not we have breakfast at Klang with their famous Bak Kut Teh. Of course Rif and Sue Lynn then bring me to one of their favourite place.

Klang Bkt (1)

Restaurant Chow Kiat is one of a famous Bak Kut Teh place that is pretty well known to the folks around the area. Most of them are regular and every one in Klang speaks Hokkien.

Klang Bkt (2)

Klang Bkt (3)

For this shop, they are famous for their big bone and also chicken feet.

Klang Bkt (4)

Klang Bkt (5)

Its a place which is pack with families and mature folks. Alot of them do bring their own tea leaves for their drinking pleasure while eating their pippin hot Bak Kut Teh.

Klang Bkt (6)

This is our Big Bone with a great amount of fats and also meat is super soft. Another bowl is a well balance of meat and fats.

Klang Bkt (7)

Lets eat. Classic Bak Kut Teh Style in this ship is by serving a small bowl with limited soup in it. Best of all is a free refill of soup where you can keep on requesting. Soup is slightly clear and taste of mild herbs and dark soy sauce is there (or I might be wrong) as I have stronger palate for my Bak Kut Teh where I need it pack with herbal taste. (this do not really apply in Klang area)

Klang Bkt (8)

I would advise you to reach before 9am as by the time we reach at 9am, most of the parts that we wanted were gone, and we were lucky to enjoy these last 2 pieces of bone.

Hong Kong Famous Mak’s Chee Authentic Wonton Noodle @ 1 Utama

Many of you that travelled to Hong Kong sure do know a few famous joint. One of a famous street food that Anthony Bourdain mention is this well known authentic Wonton Noodle – Mak’s Chee with more than 100 years of history.

Now, many of you need not fly over to Hong Kong to enjoy an authentic Wonton Noodle as Mak’s Chee now had open its first outlet in Malaysia which located in 1-Utama, right in front of Cold Storage.

maks chee (1)

Curation is part of their strict process as this outlet is headed by Michelin Star Chef Johnny Yu whom is also the lineal descendent cum elder-son-in-law of Mak En (s0n of Chee) that had start working with them since he was 17 years old.

maks chee (2)

maks chee (3)

A simple interior and I like their personal eating area which specially customise for single diners.

maks chee (5)

maks chee (6)

maks chee (7)

Menu is very straight forward as mostly are their signature item.

maks chee (8)

maks chee (9)

maks chee (10)

According to Chef, wonton here will be much nicer compare to Hong Kong as here could get fresh seafood.

maks chee (11)

maks chee (12)

For their signature is this Sea Prawn Wonton Noodle Soup, or known as ‘Sai Yong’ (with this term as the wonton is hide under the noodle) @ RM12.90. Soup is rich in flavour as it is prepared from dried sole and pork bones.

Serve in a medium small bowl which is the tradition that hide this big 4 wonton underneath it. Skin is not thick as you can see the colour of the prawn and pretty generous in ingredient.

maks chee (13)

Noodles here are thin and springy as it is indeed different from those that is available in Klang Valley.

maks chee (15)

This is another one of their signature Noodles with Dried Prawn Roe that is serve with their noodle and prawn roe only. More for flavours and prawn roe with a little hint of saltiness that makes it well and nice. It is imported from Hong Kong too.

maks chee (14)

Beef Tendon and Brisket noodle that’s a lot more flavorful with an aromatic five-spice sauce. I find that if the beef tendon and brisket is braised slightly longer then would be perfect.

maks chee (16)

Side dish you can order some fried wonton or even sui kow.

maks chee (17)

Last we ordered their Thick Noodle with Sui Kow, as sui kow taste different as they do add in salted fish which makes it very fragrant. Then you have an option to add oyster sauce or Dry Prawn Roe for extra flavours.

maks chee (18)

I prefer the thick noodle as texture wise is better. (my own personal thought) as you can give it a try.

maks chee (19)

If you would want to get a taste of how authentic Hong Kong Wonton Noodle taste like, it is worth a try as the pricing here and in Hong Kong is pretty huge.

Penang is indeed a food heaven where there have been tons of features from international coverage on many locations in Penang, along with famous international host such as Anthony Bourdain and a few other countries famous TV host. . I guess I am the odd one where I have not really actually tried before this Famous Ayer Itam Assam Laksa that located in Ayer Itam Market which is only 5 minutes drive away from my house.

Stumbling block to this place is always a headache in both finding carpark space and also tons of crowd waiting for it in this limited seating area.

ayer itam laksa (3)

Well, during this Chinese New Year decided to make a break to it by bringing my KL friend to dine here on their request and was great enough not as pack as I thought.

ayer itam laksa (2)

ayer itam laksa (4)

Each bowl of Assam Laksa will be bath 2-3 rounds in this pippin hot soup before add in final round of soup and serve it out.

ayer itam laksa (6)

Penang Assam Laksa is filled with fine slices of cucumber, onion, mint leaves, red chilli, bunga kantan and prawn paste, (some other hawker stalls do add in pineapple)

ayer itam laksa (7)

On the first dip carrying it up, you will dig thru a generous side of vegetable and as you dig deeper, you will find their signature laksa noodle which is silky smooth, soft and slightly chewy. Soup is indeed rich in flavours, as you can see a sea of shredded fish meat that make the soup quite thick, along with hint of spiciness soup, along with some other taste as acidity and mint turmeric end.

ayer itam laksa

Here you go on one of Penang famous pippin hot street food, Assam Laksa and do not be dissapointed as the owner’s brother now have a branch in KL where it is located in Klang known as Angcle Peoh.

When foodie mention certain food, it will instantly connect you to that state. No exception for Bak Kut Teh where it will automatically connect you to Klang. One of the recent try out is this classic brand Restaurant Mo Sang Kor Bak Kut Teh that operate in Taman Bekerly is actually one of a brunch from the other side. This branch is operate by one of the brother and was told by Ken this outlet serve the best version.

Mo sang Kor (2)

Mo sang Kor (3)

The owner is camera shy and was told that usually the shop closes about 10.30 and we were lucky that day as this was the last pot.

Mo sang Kor (4)

Mo sang Kor (5)

Mo sang Kor (7)

Their type of serving of pork parts is definately different and as the waiter put the bowl onto the table, the smell of it just makes us instantly hungry.

Mo sang Kor (6)

I love every single part of the pork version where the fats is pack with flavours, yet melt in your mouth. Main meat is soft enough where the version of siew yuk is slightly chewy yet not too soft to my liking. Their soup base is slightly thicker yet pack with slightly stronger herb taste that I have always prefer. Soup can only refill once therefore becarefull with the soup and drink it with care.

Mo sang Kor (8)

Among a few BKT that I have tried, this shop definitely hit the top spot in my list if I were to recommend a nice BKT. Will definitely come back again if I can wake up that early.

I am not too sure about this as I was told there is a perfect bowl of Bak Kut Teh Teow Chiew version. Never thought that we do have a Teow Chiew version of it. Cheow Sang Bak Kut Teh is one of a pretty famous bak kut teh amoung the SS 2 neighourhood where they have alot of old folks regular for breakfast and lunch, as some of them regard this is one of the best in SS2 neigbhourhood. This bak Kut Teh is located on the Kayu side of SS2.

Pricing is written clearly on the board for  your convenience of ordering.

Chew Sang (4)

Chew Sang (5)

As you walk pass this outlet, you can smell nice herbal aroma of Bak Kut teh Soup base. However, this outlet, the taste is slightly different compare to those that I have tried. Mild herbal taste that many of you will like it and it have slightly very mild papery end taste. Soup base is not the dark base yet this is quite a clear soup base, interesting taste. Those pork meat are not braised as much as other shop does but it is soft enough to go along with dark soy sauce.

Chew Sang (6)

A portion of 3 person Bak Kut Teh.

Chew Sang (7)

Another of their signature which is fried crispy fish which is pretty expensive @ RM 25 and ordered some additional spare parts to go along.

Chew Sang (8)

If you are not a fan of strong herbal taste of Bak Kut Teh, I think this place would suits you pretty well as to me I would describe it as Johor Bak Kut Teh cross over with Klang Bak Kut Teh. Our total bill comes out to RM88.30.

Heard alot about this place and only manage to came by visit once when half drunk 2-3 years ago and still remember clearly it does taste good. Not till recently with my new job and I am base at Jalan Alor and visited this place once so called famous Ngau Kee Beef Noodles, to me now is no longer a great one.

Ngau Kee (1)

It used to have a huge crowd for it and I reach around 9pm and there were only a few tables.

Ngau Kee (2)

Style of setting up still the same and now the difference is only foreigners is managing it now while the owner is at the side chit chatting with friends.

Ngau Kee (4)

Ngau Kee (5)

Their signature is their home made chili sauce that is mild spicy yet fragrant with some herb taste along with sourish end.

Ngau Kee (6)

I ordered their signature which is Dry mix Beef Noodle, top with mince meat and a side bowl of mix spare parts at RM 9

Ngau Kee (7)

Ngau Kee (9)

Noodle is alright as pretty much the same with wan tan mee noodles.

image1

Then went back another round for their soup base and surely to say that their quality had dropped so much, where the soup base is no longer pungent in taste and blend where I believe there are better ones out there.

Coco Steamboat now serve Sauna Steamboat @ Cheras

I am a fan of steamboat, where there are certainly many kinds out there, not to mention Coco Steamboat is well known for their pork bone broth soup base that gives you a kick in their flavor according to many diners out there. This round, we were treated with one of their latest version of steamboat which is really steam from the broth underneath.

coco steamboat (1)

If you are Cheras folks, you might know them as now they have shifted from their old shop to this brand newly renovated restaurant just down the road from where they previously occupied. I am quite impress with them as they do hire a security with weapon equip for safety of diners.

coco steamboat (2)

coco steamboat (3)

coco steamboat (4)

For their new version of steamboat, they called it Sauna steamboat and they have sets for you to choose or you can pick back their ala carte menu.

coco steamboat (5)

coco steamboat (6)

For a start, their fried home made beancurd and wonton is a must order as both are filled with generous ingredients in it.

coco steamboat (7)

coco steamboat (8)

We got set C where most of the fresh seafood is in it and thinking of sauna, this would be the best combination of all.

coco steamboat (9)

coco steamboat (10)

Original pot will be serve in this version where white cabbage is serve on the top and their superior broth is at the bottom.

coco steamboat (11)

coco steamboat (12)

coco steamboat (12.1)

coco steamboat (13)

How this is eaten where all the fresh seafood being place nicely on the top of the cabbage, then cover with the lid and let it steam for 5-15  minutes depending on the ingredients that you ordered. First you get to eat those seafood fresh, secondly all the seafood sweetness of their aroma and steam effect drip into the broth below. Right after you finish all the seafood and take the metal base lid up and enjoy the superior soup base at the bottom, where it is include with special rice to make it a mini porridge too.

Soup is pack with flavour and I had 4 bowls of soup after that. Their home made chili is a bomb.

coco steamboat (14)

If you are really hungry and ready to eat, then Sauna steamboat is not advisable as it takes you quite a while to finish the ingredients that you order. Still a great new version of steamboat on my encounter.

There were once a Korean Chicken fever, where with two main franchise chain in the big hit. It was not until Rif asked me, Hey! The design of the frontage was weird and did not look appealing that, one of the main reason that always prevent me from looking into their outlet.

Chicken House (2.1)

Chicken House (3)

Besides the chicken, we tried their hot pot. In the menu, I really dislike their charges on hot pot where there are a few series and minimum must order by 2 pax, where each pax is RM 30 – RM 40 depending which series you are eating. No doubht that their hot pot is good, just that could not try more version . Love their Korean noodle and ended up ordered 2.

Chicken House (6)

In the sets, it serve with some Korean side dish.

Chicken House (7)

I had came here 3 times already and tried a few version. ORginal chicken is awesome where its a must order, follow by their garlic honey series and spicy. All are also great. Fried to perfection where the meat is soft and juicy and their seasoning da bomb!

do order their Fruit SOJU too. It goes very well with the chicken.

Famous Pork Satay at Lung Aun Kopitiam at Melaka

I have encounter quite number of Melaka famous pork satay and till I am not too sure which is the better ones. However, this was one of the most recent one that was recommended and it was by luck we reach early and got a spot immediately. Pork Satay at Lung Aun Kopitiam which just only a street away from Jonker street is one of a coffee shop you should drop by if you are moving around by foot.

Lung Aun Kopitian (1)

Lung Aun Kopitian (2)

A kopitiam that is well known for their Pork Satay and their classic servings of toast from the coffee owner themselves.

Lung Aun Kopitian (3)

This are the only choices for you to hunt for and upon ordering, average waiting time can be 15 minutes – 60 minutes depending on your luck as there are quite number or order for take away.

Lung Aun Kopitian (4)

Lung Aun Kopitian (5)

Lung Aun Kopitian (6)

While waiting for your satay, you can order the kopitiam famous kopi and their toast set which is quite similiar to Penang by using charcoal as the base for toast bread.

Lung Aun Kopitian (7)

We were told by one of the regular, it used to be much better as they do not serve with the plastic egg mug for the egg to cook, where they used to use the silver cans and pour hot water in it. Toast here are serve very flat with their home version of bread, along by spreading with homemade kaya and butter.

Lung Aun Kopitian (8)

Our order is serve with pig intestine and their classic pork series. One great flavours in their item is their peanut sauce. Its fragrant with mild peanut and taste a bit with their special spices where topping with their chilli oil enhance it.

Lung Aun Kopitian (9)

What I have read in many blogs that this satay stall, opens whenever they feels like it. To hunt for this shop and they are open, means it is fated for you to dine in. Most of the people purposely travel here for their satay and the old couple that I share table with, both of them finish 60 sticks. That’s crazy.

According to them (the old couple), in the morning, this shop also well known for their fish head bee hoon where the noodle is home made by the uncle himself and the flavors had maintain since the first day they had it. His business hours is from 7am-9am or 10am only. Will come back to try that.

During CNY gathering, I was introduce to this place, Restaurant Soon Hock at Sungai Buloh is serving great “tai Chow” and also quite cheap in prices. We were advise to reach early before the crazy massive dinner crowd is in. Avarage waiting time here can be 30 minutes – 90 minutes and if you do not leave your table after you have finish, you will get many “cock stare” from other hungry waiting diners.

Soon Hock (1)

Soon Hock (2)

Soon Hock (3)

Steamed Fish
is one of the restaurant specialty that you should not miss. I have no idea what the dish is called as all were pre-ordered by another friend. Portion was huge, fragrant and fresh.

fried creamy salted egg yolk with mantis prawn.

Soon Hock (5)

Their special homemade taufu.

Soon Hock (6)

Black Pepper Deer Meat

Soon Hock (7)

Their Asam Curry is awesome. Sourish, with mild spicy end. Its a dish you would not want to miss too.

I think price is on the cheaper side as total bill was only around RM 22 that comes with each pax around RM 22. We could not finish our dish too as portion were pretty generous.

Ah Leng Famous Char Koey Teow @ Dato Keramat, Penang

For Char Koey Teow in Penang, which which one would emerge as one of the best? Till date, if I were to recommend one of the best in Penang, I would be lost of selection. However, Ah Leng Char Koey Teow is emerage as one of the best and usually I eat the one his elder brother fried which is at Ayer Itam area and for this branch is his younger brother that is doing the job for afternoon to evening session.

Ah Leng Ckt (1)

I remember that they used to operate in an old kopitiam which is right opposite: Khoon Hiang Cafe as now they are currently operating in Restaurant Tong Hooi. Under this establishment, I overhead a regular mention that famous chicken rice used to operate in the same kopitiam as ah Leng has also move into this kopitiam to operate.

Ah Leng Ckt (2)

Parking here can be a big problem as you can park right next to it by paying RM 3 per entry, in a restaurant compound.

Ah Leng Ckt (3)

This version of Ah Leng Char Koey Teow is slightly different from others where it is slightly moist from their own soup stock that they add in as per compare to the usual CKT version, it is fried to dry with wok hei.

Ah Leng homenade soup stock kept the aroma and pungent taste of it while cook with duck egg by adding extra cockles just make the taste even better. The usual will always add in with 2 big prawns at RM 7 along with Ah Leng Special version is by adding in mantis prawns ranging from RM 8-RM12.

Ah Leng Ckt (4)

I still like my CKT fried with wok hei and dry version, however there are still friends of mine love this version. Shall leave it to your decision to choose which version you like.

Famous BBQ Pork (Char Siew) & Chicken Rice at Hong Seng @ Section 17, PJ

[repost from year 2011] – updated pictures with all broken links.

In this neighborhood, I always thought that the area only I know is on the Food Foundry area that side which only filled with food to hunt. . never did I know that actually there is another small kopitiam area located on another side of it which is quite famous for its lunch crowd among all my colleague and one of the shop that they introduce me which is Hong Seng Kopitiam which is famous for its BBQ Pork (Char Siew) and also their Chicken Rice..

Chicken Rice (1)

Left office around 12.30pm where was told to head there earlier to avoid the crazy queue. When I reach, the queue is already up to the next 2 shop lot.

Chicken Rice (2)

Chicken Rice (3)

Just a simple chicken rice stall like that which is only famous for its BBQ pork can attract many pork lovers out there. Roast pork hanging and the feel and look of it doesn’t attract me much, also decided to give it a try.

Chicken Rice (4)

Chicken Rice (5)

Then we order the Char Siew of 6 pax, that comes in whole big plate like this with a bit mix of Roast pork and chicken was not in the list cuz they said its not good. BBQ pork is good, with burn end is crisp, soft juicy meat that well coated with their own special sauce and I just cant stop eating it. Roast Pork did not impress me that much as I had better ones before, as here the head is not that crispy as I like and the meat is quite dry  even though the meat with fats are my type just doesn’t give me a kick in it.

Chicken Rice (7)

Ahhh, this sure impress all of us, sour and spicy soup, which is quite sour enough that boiled till a bit messy with the ingredients and just lack of not spicy enough. If it had add a bit more of dry chili then would be perfect but no complain as their version win a lot of places.

Chicken Rice (9)

Then I saw next table order some pig innards then I was wondering where to order that, its located behind section operate by a old uncle that sell s porridge and I order pig intestine which is good! Chewy, and flavorful from the soy sauce he is cooking. RM 8 for this portion which is pretty reasonable. . .

Chicken Rice (8)

Our whole lunch meal comes to a total of RM8 per pax after divided out with 6 pax.. which is a good value and satisfy . . I would say, just attack the BBQ pork here, do try out others too if you like . . Just be there early to avoid the heavy lunch crowd at 1pm.

New Yut Kee Restaurant @ Jalan Kamunting, KL

Yut Kee had been nearly all my friends favourite for a Hainanese breakfast especially with their toast and pork chop. Oh well, this is another post where just to mention now they have move to a new premises where they started operate since October 2014, just right behind their old shop. (click here for old premises). Parking still is a major problem however never prevents their loyal customer from flocking in.

yut kee (1)

yut kee (2)

This new outlet now offer more bigger waiting area with more seating arrangement where customer now can wait comfortably for a table and please do always remember give your name to the owner as part of the waiting list whom is wearing spec that always park himself right at the cashier then wait your name to be called. It is manual but their accuracy is 100%.

yut kee (3)

Bigger dining space yet they have still maintain their classic heritage look with a little twist of  modern lighting in it.

yut kee (4)

Menu still the same . .

yut kee (5)

yut kee (6)

This is my usual set of breakfast whenver I am there, starting off with their Kopi Ais, Pork Chop, Half boil egg and their toast.

yut kee (7)

yut kee (8)

yut kee (9)

This round, ordered something more which is their Hainan Noodle that serve in thick version, not too salty yet just something simple and direct.

Till date, their crowd never fade off and it is still like a warzone in this area. Even more crazy if its weekend. Do prepare to wait at least 15-45 minutes depending on your timing.

Famous Chicken Wings at Wong ah Wah Restaurant (W.A.W) @ Jalan Alor, KL

Wong ah Wah (W.A.W) at Jalan Alor is one of the most well known eatery brand in the street where have attracted tons of local and international visitor to their outlet. I still remember when they first stareted, all my friends went crazy over their chicken wings and it was to die for when they have cravings on it. They started  operation from one corner shop and till date they have expended to 5 shops side by side in total.

Wong Ah Wah (1)

Queue here can be very crazy over weekend where international celebrity is also patronizing this shop as one of their must stop eatery place.

Wong Ah Wah (2)

Signature Roast Chicken Wings were their core business where how they started and since then expended to quite a huge seafood menu. When they first started about 12-15 years ago, no doubt that their chicken wings is one of the best back then as till date, I find that there are better ones than them.

Wong Ah Wah (5)

Wong Ah Wah (3)

“xiong Tong Lala” @ RM 20 is one of a signature dish that will always order for our international friend. Pack with chinese win, where soup base is pipin hot and well balance in flavour. Slightly salty and sourish end that makes it a great start for the meal.

Wong Ah Wah (4)

Kang Kung Belacan is one of a local favourite for fried vegetable.

Wong Ah Wah (7)

Grill fish is another option where as below is another dish to die for, Roast Pork Dark noodle @ RM 24 which feeds for 4 pax and I must say it is really a huge portion. Roast pork is nice and slightly salty end to make it a nice punch as it is suppose to be.

Wong Ah Wah (8)

Wong Ah Wah (9)

Salted Egg Yolk Squid, is well quoted with salted egg yolk where it is not too salty, quoted with yolk to make it golden yellow and wish that they could fried slightly longer about 3 minutes. Steam egg to go along with rice.

Wong Ah Wah (10)

To me there is nothing much to shout out about them as they have become one of a commercialise “tai Chow” at Jalan Alor where also automatically gain its popularity as one of a place must come to eat at Jalan Alor. There are a few outlets are pretty much on par or better.
