Tzuk Seng Lao Bamboo Noodle (竹昇樓) @ Uptown Damansara

Wanton noodles? Who is not a fan of it? There are one which is a Michelin star grade wonton noodles  at 1-Utama hail all the way from Hong Kong is here and of course with that status, you have to dig slightly deeper in your pocket. There is always an alternative for you as my friend told me this is another choice for them where  Tzuk Sheng Lao Bamboo Noodle for its traditional duck egg bamboo noodle, is located right at Uptown Damansara is offering cheaper options.

tzuk seng lao (1)

tzuk seng lao (2)

A simple kopitiam set up design that gives you the feel of a quick fast food like those in Hong Kong. Noodles made by the sifu who needs to ride on a bamboo log to press the noodle’s ingredients to dough up the texture that they wanted.

tzuk seng lao (3)

tzuk seng lao (4)

It is also called “sai yeong” where the wonton is hidden underneath the noodle. Duck Egg Bamboo Noodle, Wonton is not as good as Mak Chee’s howver this is decent enough where they are in the same size and for the price I am paying, I am happy with it. Bamboo Noodles are homemade through classic ways and it is still slightly springy that made it a nice pipin simple bowl of wonton noodles. @ RM 6.30

tzuk seng lao (5)

tzuk seng lao (6)

tzuk seng lao (7)

Another of their signature is Bamboo Noodle Flavoured with Dried Shrimp Roe serve in special sauce @ RM 8.30 for small. Decent enough to kill my cravings instead of queing for long hours and with their special sauce I believe it is oyster sauce. A simple mix that did not over power the shrimp roe.

tzuk seng lao (8)

That night I was also craving for Spicy and Sour Mustard  Vegetable @ RM 7.90. Not to say it is fantastic that worth a great shout out, as for the pricing, it is a decent bowl. Not spicy yet a mild sourness that will suits many mild palate out there. For me I prefer my version is spicy and strong sourish end.

It is still a great place for a decent bowl of wonton noodles.

my recommendations to go with : Duck Egg Bamboo Noodle & Bamboo Noodle Flavoured with Dried Shrimp Roe

Solaris KL had suddenly revive back to life where now it has florish to be the next new Little Korea where so many Korean restaurants are popping out. One of my latest discovery is this place, Duksune Fresh Meat Store where they offer both ala-carte or Korean BBQ Buffet @ RM 32.90.

Duksune (1)

Duksune (2)

It is very pack when you are here during peak dinner hours and if you do not mind late dinner which is after 9pm, the crowd is much lesser by that time. Typical ambiance that you will encounter.

Duksune (3)

Duksune (4)

You can put in some side order if you feel like to order more.

Duksune (5)

For me, this would be first of its kind where you take yourself from the counter. What is available is 6 different types of meat where Henry attack Sangyseopal the most, where the next fridge is all the marinated version.

Choices of meat available is 5 types of Pork + marination and 1 chicken only.

Duksune (6)

Duksune (7)

Duksune (8)

This is how we maximise the full bbq pit.

Duksune (9)

Duksune (10)

Duksune (11)

We had alot of meat that night where we were particularly eating for 2 hours non stop. Went back home “food koma”.

It is a great place for Korean BBQ if you do not mind the limeted choices and this shop is one of the better ones that is currently offering int his area.

Sang Har Mee & Crab @ Restaurant Green View, SS2

My best friend loves crab. Whenver he is down, he would always ask to look for crab place to eat or even Sang Har Noodles, then we head to this family joint at PJ that is always pack with customers. Then only found out that Restaurant Green View is actually one of a well know restaurant to many family diners that located directly across Lisa De Inn Hotel.

Green View (1)

Green View (2)

Variety of crab is available here and depending what kind of dish we ordered and what is the recommendations from the manager and my friend he placed ordered that night as I reached late.

Green View (3)

One of a famous dish in this restaurant is this Sang Har Noodle, where prawns are fresh with juicy solid prawn meat, gravy is just nice where it is not too creamy or yolky that goes well with fried noodle as the base.

Green View (4)

Next 2 dishes were crab where one of it  is with their famous sweet and sour sauce, where we do order extra man tou to dip along with it. Sourish enough with their own chef recepi and perfect. Crab meat were solid too.

When comes to our baked crab where it was recommended to get the Australian crab which is slightly more expensive and we agreed. The taste came out is totally different where it does have some salty sea taste of it and freshness of meat is just spot on.

Green View (5)

Green View (6)

Last dish to go on was just a normal fried veggie and our bill came up to around RM 550, with both crab had weighted around 3.5kg. Great dinner and great catch up.

This restaurant also offer great Dai chow dish if you do not fancy saang har noodle or crab.

Famous Pin Chen Hainanese Chicken Rice @ Jalan Alor

When I was based in Jalan Alor for my 2 weeks training over my new job in handling outlet operations, then only I realise there are so many good food during in the afternoon as per compare to Jalan Alor at night. I was introduce to this place where Pin Chen Hainanese Chicken Rice serve one of the best chicken rice in this street, not only that as in this street during lunch, you can find at least around 4-6 shop sells chicken rice.

chicken Rice (1)

Folks here are very friendly as there as they all work like a family and this is the first time I see a chicken butcher is a lady.

chicken Rice (2)

chicken Rice (4)

Eating chicken Rice here is surely not cheap with a name tag as Alor and my chicken rice cost me RM 12 for this one set. After tasting it, I am willing to pay for it as indeed it is one plate of a great chicken rice, where they use oily chicken oil to make the rice very fragrant which is from the abstract of steaming chicken. Chicken meat is so soft, juicy and tender, where the skin is shinny.

The best part is their home Hainanese chilli sauce. little spicy but the green colour is sourish along with some ginger. A perfect combination. I ended up order another set of chicken for my own consumption.

chicken Rice (3)

Few days later, heard my colleague said that this coffee shop serve great pan mee too which is a sub tenant and try them out. Their favourite is Dry Pan Mee Noodle with their own special sweet mushroom sauce by topping with generous amount of fried anchovies.

chicken Rice (5)

Pretty good as I drip in more of their home made chilli sauce.

chicken Rice (6)

chicken Rice (7)

Next day, I tried their soup version and I am in love with it. Thick with flavour as according to the owner, she cook the broth for 4-6 hours with her special mix of bones, to make the soup taste so sweet and strong in taste. Pouring my whole samble into the soup just add the spicy kick of it.

During my work training at Jalan Alor, my boss told me he loves this Alor Corner Curry Mee. It is hard to ensure this stall opens or not as I have came here twice and it is close. I guess it is by luck and I was lucky for the third time. The name Alor Corner indeed the stall is located at the corner entrance of Alor street.

Alor Corner Curry Mee (1)

I guess all great hawker food in Alor only operates a few hours as this lady operates only after 2pm.

Alor Corner Curry Mee (2)

Preparation on the spot while me and another guy is waiting to be serve.

Alor Corner Curry Mee (3)

Chili is not for curry mee as they do sell other noodles.

Alor Corner Curry Mee (4)

Sitting over here is going to be very hot.

Alor Corner Curry Mee (5)

Here you go on my pippin hot Curry Noodle and I ordered extra for a side dish which is a mix homemade fish balls and pork balls.

Alor Corner Curry Mee (6)

Curry Noodle is filled with slice egg plant, chicken meat, fresh cockle, & taufupok. Creamy soup base with coconut milk which is slightly strong, after adding in the chili it tone down and pretty well balance. Not too spicy yet it is just nice. This bowl of noodle is just perfect as the owner use different noodle that give you a springy texture which is slightly harder than any yellow noodle yet chewy like spaghetti.

Alor Corner Curry Mee (7)

Alor Corner Curry Mee (8)

I am not a big fan of fish ball but whenI see home made, it is a must order for me. It is springy , fragrant with fish taste and I like my pork ball solid and chewy. A great bowl to order extra.

My total damage @ RM 12

Another place for lunch in Jalan Alor is this kopitiam known as Restaurant Beh Brothers. At night this kopitiam serve Thai “Dai Chow” and Bak Kut Teh. In the afternoon there are two stalls is well known to many lunch patrons which is the noodle shop in this coffee shop and also Indonesian Economy rice right behind it.

Beh Brothers (1)

Beh Brothers (2)

What I have been told that if you are at this stall, there are a few items that introduce by my colleague is, their Pork Noodle, Red Wine Mee Sua(which is their signature), Curry noodle and dry wan tan mee.

Beh Brothers (3)

Beh Brothers (4)

The Curry noodle presentation here is quite similiar to Alor Corner Curry Mee and the taste is quite different too. For this bowl, it is serve with fresh cockles, tau pok, pork skin and chicken meat where I chose Wan tan noodle as the base. Curry here is slightly watery, not too thick, chili paste add on the thickness of spicy where there is a little spices taste in it. Both of this stall have their own character. Love the wonton noodle as it have slight springy texture.  @ RM 9

Beh Brothers (5)

Beh Brothers (6)

Beh Brothers (7)

One of the Wan Ton Dry noodle which is their own version. Love this too as Springy noodle texture with mince meat gravy and their own version of BBQ pork. A simple dish yet satisfying.

Beh Brothers (8)

Beh Brothers (10)

Tried their instant pork noodle too, where plenty of pork ingredients in it, from liver, mince meat, pork meat, kidney and others. Instantly cook with their special broth, and top with pork lard. Soup is more on a clear side which is not too thick in flavour yet just right put my cravings to stop.

Beh Brothers (9)

This Stall which is the Indonesian Economy Rice is quite well known to many construction worker and staff around the area where there are alot of take away. Quite good too.

Two Pesos 两披索靓锅 Taiwan Mini Steamboat @ SS2, PJ

Two Pesos. A brand that I heard a huge hype over it. There are mix reaction where some of my friend do not like it, and some say they like it. So me and my friend decided to drop by to check them out as Two Pesos is originated from Taiwan, a mini steamboat that every one get one hot pot by yourself. For me I still like my big pot of steamboat to be shared as the more ingredient I added in, the soup gets better.

Two Pesos (1)

I reach at 8.15pm and I only got my table at 9.30pm. One thing I realise while waiting is that they did not maximise all the tables where each couple are occupying a table of four, where they easily can filled the table up for table sharing that will cut the waiting time by half. Maybe that is their policy of running a business. With the impression of it is going to be a great hot pot.

Two Pesos (2)

Two Pesos (3)

Their price is definitely on the winning side along with 12 different types of soup base to choose from.

Two Pesos (4)

Two Pesos (5)

Unlimited sauce for you to enjoy.

Two Pesos (6)

Drinks are so so for both winter melon and ice tea.

Two Pesos (8)

My friend ordered Beef Italian Tomato @ RM 16 comes with 1 prawn and 1 fish meat. I guess their Italian tomato is other version where no tomato taste are visible. Soup base is quite bland although it is nicely presented.

Two Pesos (9)

Two Pesos (11)

If I got a chance to order with bbq set, then this would be my preference. I ordered Two Pesos BBQ Pork @ RM 19..50. I can only say the higlight of this BBQ is their sauce. Great in taste.

Two Pesos (12)

Two Pesos (13)

Mongolian Herbs was another order @ RM 15.50. Ingredients do look alot as all only come in one pieces or a slice where bottom is a mountain of Chinese cabbage to push all the ingredient up and make it looks like well worth it. Soup base is more outstanding compare to the rest with its unique herb taste.

Two Pesos (10)

Two Pesos (14)

Meat are decent. . .

Two Pesos (15)

Overall, I guess I would not be the right fit of Two Pesos where after reach home, all of us were thirsty for water. With such pricing that they have, we do not mind to pay slightly more to enjoy our favorite hot pot. I would go back for my favourite Taiwanese Steamboat – 神来一鍋 – God’s Delicious Pot at Kota Damansara.

It was quite a let down in terms of quality but they wins in presentation and price (to many peoples perception). It is for you to judge as they have customers who like and they have customers who do not like yet they do enjoy long queue every day.

Head over to their new branch at Kota Damansara as they do not have any queue there yet if you are keen to try.

There are 2 signature item that you must not miss in here is their Claypot Lou Shi Fun and their XO Fish Head Noodle.

IT is quite different compare to any other traditional Claypot lou shi fun that I have eaten. Pretty unique and I am loving it. Filled with bits and chunks of park lard, dried shrimp and with their special marinated mince meat. After you mince it all together, you will have an even taste. Texture of lou shi fun is slightly chewy to my liking, not too salty yet very fragrant. To make the taste extra punch, add in their special home made chili. It is spicy and pairs very well.

This is their in house specialty XO Fish Head Noodle . Serve in pippin hot claypot, filled with yam slices, milky soup base, fried fish head in it. A perfect bowl to start off with as their noodle is unique with it silky smooth texture yet slightly thinner than laksa noodle and light chewy. Soup base is like from a “tong dai” clear soup base with hint of sourness, milk flavour and flavour is just right.

Start off with something light Mango Salad @ RM 29.50. Filled with diced mango served with assorted fresh greens and diced salmon tossed in light yuzu dressing. Love the dressing taste and generous mango in it.

Ippudo (6)

Fried Soft Shell Crab is another highlight for them. Crispy from inside and soft on the outside, with the steam bun.

Ippudo (7)

In love with this dish, Amaebi Tartar @ RM 34Diced fresh raw shrimp served with avocado and wasabi dressing topped with tobiko and seaweed. After serving, mixed the shrimp, avocado, tobiko with the wasabi dressing and wrapped then with the seaweed. Love the cripsy bite from seaweed and the well balance taste from their soy sauce and light airy avocado that pairs well with amaebi.

Ippudo (8)

Ippudo (9)

Chicken Namban @ RM 16Marinated deep fried chicken with vinegar sauce served with homemade tartar sauce on the side.

Ippudo (10)

Salmon Sushi Moriawase @ RM 446 pieces of salmon sushi platter, or I can call it 3 ways, that filled with salmon egg, sashimi and half cook salmon sushi..

Ippudo (11)

Here is a twist of flavour from Japan with our local taste. Seafood Foil Yaki @ RM 39.50Steamed mixed seafood mussels, shrimp, squids and scallops and assorted vegetables served with spicy ponzu sauce in foil on hot plate. The sauce is pack with flavour where giving you, spicy with cili padi and sourish after taste. Indeed it pairs very well with rice. Worth to give it a try.

Ippudo (12)

This is their new highlight – Mazesoba @ RM28.  Ippudo’s first “Japanese Styled Mixed Ramen” served with thick chewy noodles and 9 uniquely selected complimentary ingredients. The way to eat it is by Mixing it all together. Like the chewy texture of the noodle, just that I could not finish this personally where the sauce is slightly too thick for me, hence the gyoza soup at the side is to tone it down yet still think it is too much for me.

It is down to individual preference where some of them love it.

Ippudo (13)

Ippudo (14)

Ippudo (15)

Ippudo (16)

Watermelon Sherbet @ RM 19Homemade watermelon sherbet served with cheese cake and pineapple preserve.

For their latest menu, there is a slight twist in it. All down to your own preference. For something light, Mango Salad is good to kick start follow by Seafood Foil Yaki and Mazesoba.

Kum Kee Charcoal Roast Pork Restaurant @ Kuchai Lama

Heard about this place alot when I was still with my ex company and since working around this area, decided to come back to give it a try. Kum Kee Charcoal Roast Pork is actually famous for their roast pork in this neighborhood that operates in this Kedai Kopi & Makanan Mooi Mooi at Taman Continental or off Kuchai Lama. Now they have expended another lot with the red signage, with better seating capacity and cleaner.

Kum Kee (1)

I prefer the ambiance of Mooi Mooi coffee shop with my own perception that all those good Chicken rice or roast pork should be in old classic coffee shop settings.

Kum Kee (3)

When I reach at 12.30 pm, the place is already pack with hungry peeps.

Kum Kee (4)

Kum Kee (6)

The uncle see us take picture and he also took 2 slab his fresh roast pork for us to take picture. Cute uncle. 😀

Kum Kee (5)

Kum Kee (8)

Kum Kee (9)

Even though their rice is cook with some chicken oil, it lacks the fragrance that chicken rice need to have.

Kum Kee (10)

Their Char Siew is alright, where it is slightly caramelize. I had better one before at my own preference.

Kum Kee (11)

Kum Kee (12)

If you are here, best just to order their chicken and roast pork. chicken is juicy, moist and fragrant.

Kum Kee (14)

Kum Kee (15)

Love their roast pork where I ordered another plate to munch. Crispy skin where it is suppose to be, not too salty, yet the meat is soft and juicy to my liking with a little hint of saltiness from their soy sauce.

Kum Kee (17)

Just order Siew Yuk and chicken is good enough. Our Total bill came to RM 49.50 for 3 pax where I think it is quite decent.

Eat Thai Food (9)

Eat Thai Food (10)

We ordered a fish which is catch of they day, that is similiar with our sweet and sour sauce but it is Thai version. Fried with chili, lots of fine chopped onions that gives you hint of sourness, and little spicy taste at the end.

This place is actually not bad if you are looking for Thai Dai Chow in KL. When we were there, quite number of Thai dinners are in there.

Lucy Fried Pan Mee @ Happy Garden

I have drive pass this place numerous time and constantly ask why is there such a place in the housing area, only then found out that Lucy Fried Pan Mee actually is one of a hidden gem in this neighborhood (Happy Garden or the verge of Kuchai Lama) where they serve great Fried Pan Mee – quite a unique dish. If you are sick of modern food, then back to basic where this staple food will impress you. Used to cook by the mom where found out that she is ill at the moment and took over by her son.

Lucy Stall (1)

Lucy Stall (3)

Do have patience to wait for this uncle to cook as he might be slow where I suspect he have Parkinson Disease with his prominent symptoms – shaky hand.

Lucy Stall (4)

Their menu is in Chinese and I do not know how to read, so ask the uncle to introduce.

Lucy Stall (5)

Then we order their classic dish are both Pan Mee Soup and Fried Pan Mee.

Lucy Stall (7)

I am inlove with his texture of noodle which is so soft, slightly chewy and the texture is so smooth. By looking at the dough when he rolls it, knew that the noodle is gonna be amazing. Soup base is clear soup with mild flavoured broth that he cook in the morning to get the bones flavour out, and to make it sweet, he uses some Chinese Cabbage.

Lucy Stall (6)

Their fried version is their signature where is consider one of a pretty rare dish, with many perception that Pan mee have to be in soupy base. However their Fried Pan Mee is fried with wok hei, noodle is springy and sweet and saltiness from their dark soy sauce is well balance. Adding in anchovies to give you the crunchy salty taste. Best of all do add in their homemade chili. I added 2 into my noodle to give you extra kick of spiciness. AWESOME!

Lucy Stall (8)

According to the uncle best friend where he sat down with us and chit chat further, all the ingredients are bought fresh from the market in early morning, will then cook the broth fresh for a few hours till the aroma is out and only start operating from 10am – 3pm only.

For this place, if you like homecook version, this is certainly one of the place to be.

Total damage is RM 16 with 1 100 Plus.

There are a few recommendations by my friend that I should visit Hong Kong Hot Pot (香港热锅) a try, where their ingredients are made fresh along with their amazing soup. I have to agree with most of my friends after paying them a visit.

Hong Kong Hotpot (1)

Hong Kong Hotpot (2)

Ambiance certainly reflect to those shop in Hong Kong where seating area is very tight, feels like you have to cramp into a small space with tight moving space too.

Hong Kong Hotpot (3)

Hong Kong Hotpot (4)

Hong Kong Hotpot (5)

You will be handed a paper menu to circle your order into it for a placement order.

Hong Kong Hotpot (6)

Their herbal tea of the day is rather interesting where Sai Yeong Choy is usually a soup base but the change it to a herbal tea by infusing with sugarcane.

Hong Kong Hotpot (7)

Love this item as it is a must order where is imported – Hong Kong Bean Curd Roll. to eat this, you just need to dip it for 5-8 seconds where it turn soft like sponge and love the texture of it.

Hong Kong Hotpot (8)

Other usual ingredient to highlight is Hong Kong Yee Mee is also a must order.

Hong Kong Hotpot (9)

Their In house sauce with variety of flavours available for your liking and I asked them what is the house special sauce mixer where the lady box mixed it for me.

Hong Kong Hotpot (10)

The main 2 mixer is their “Fu Yu” & ” Jar Chiang” sauce as the base, then add on with their fiery chili sauce and mix along.

Hong Kong Hotpot (11)

Hong Kong Hotpot (12)

Fresh fish paste that made daily and some of the fish balls that have fish roe fillings in it.

Hong Kong Hotpot (13)

Hong Kong Hotpot (14)

Soup base ordered “Ma lat” and “pork bone soup” Love both the soup base as it is pack with flavour, both with hint of herbal taste and follow by their own spices.

Hong Kong Hotpot (15)

Hong Kong Luncheon meat

Hong Kong Hotpot (16)

Must dip with their sauce as I had 2 rounds of this. It gives you hint of spiciness, with mild fuyu taste and jar jiang sauce give you the salty taste of it. great stuff.

Hong Kong Hotpot (17)

Their tasty fish ball with fish roe in it.

Hong Kong Hotpot (18)

Their soup base is by keep adding in their house special pork base for both soup.

Hong Kong Hotpot (19)

End of the meal, you got a complimentary jelly to cool your body down. Certainly this is a great place for steamboat if you do not mind the service is slightly slow and paying more than other steamboat players, then it is worth to consider as I paid for my meal 2 pax is RM 180.

Items to order: Yee Mee, Fish ball with fish roe, HK bean curd roll

The name itself – The Forking Cork is indeed cheeky and considered one of a hidden gem in OUG. The Forcking Cock is a wine and whisky bar where their original objective is to be a place for business meet up and an area to introduce all business meet up. Besides that, it is also perfect for some of you that love to hang out some where nearby and need not drive all the way to KL to enjoy your alcohol intake.

Forking Cock (2)

A simple place that have wide range of wine for you to choose and some other whisky choices.

Forking Cock (3)

Forking Cock (4)

Forking Cock (12)

Forking Cock (13)

Forking Cock (14)

food range is very direct where only have 2 -4 pages for you to flip on.

Forking Cock (15)

Ordered Spaghetti Carbonara with Bacon & Sausage, @ RM 24 is something very simple, delicious where it is creamy enough to my liking.

Forking Cock (16)

Grilled Lamb Rack with Plum Sauce @ RM 40, is well marinated and grilled to perfection where the sauce is just nice, yet not overpowering if you were to pair with wine

Forking Cock (17)

Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon with Avocado Lemon Cream Sauce @ RM 30recommended  is cook to perfection where you can still see the mild pink colour on the meat. Season with nice crumbs and their lemon cream sauce is the one that to hunt for.

Forking Cock (18)

Grilled Iberico Pork with HOney Mustard Glaze @ RM 45 is cook to perfection. Soft enough yet it is still juicy where, bed of mash potato at the bottom pairs it perfectly.

Forking Cock (19)

I quite like this, Pan Seared Avocado Stuffed Chicken Wrapped in Bacon @ RM 28. If you are enjoying your whisky or dry wine, then to pair with this dish is just nice. Flavour of the black paper did not over power the dish where saltiness of bacon and little creamy of avocado bring up the taste.

Forking Cock (20)

Forking Cock (21)

Chicken Teriyaki is one of a easier dish for food pair, that can always go along with beer or whisky.

Forking Cock (22)

I love my Deep fried chicken Popcorn to be slightly more golden brown, where if they fried it another minute, Their homemade honey mustard dressing is a bomb. The sauce went dry after half of the basked was gone. We asked for refill where this Sour, with mild spicy is just encouraging us to keep on dipping.

Forking Cock (23)

Deep Fried Shrimp Paste Chicken Wings (4pcs) @ RM 16

Hong Kong Wantan Noodle (香港鲜虾皇) @ Restaurant WDS, SS2

Read Vkeong’s review for his recommendation on Hong Kong noodle that located at one of my favorite kopitiam that previously known as Ho Ho Sek at Chow Yang, SS2 which now had changed hands to Restaurant WDS. Hosting back many of previous hawker stall and one new player that stood more prominent that the others is this Hong Kong Wantan Noodle (香港鲜虾皇) .

Restaurant WDS (1)

Restaurant WDS (3)

Restaurant WDS (5)

The main chef, Vincent used to work in a famous local HK restaurant chain before he decided to venture out on his own. You will get to see him at the stall as he is the main person that prepares you all the ingredients.

Restaurant WDS (6)

Restaurant WDS not only host one stall as they have many variety of stall for you to hunt for, especially right the furthest behind, there is this one stall is well known for their Sang Har Mee which you can see many people order or their Cantonese Ying Yeong.

Restaurant WDS (7)

If you come here during 12pm-2pm, do expect a mad rush of table hunting. This is when all the workers of offices nearby are here to hunt for their favourite.

Restaurant WDS (10)

Their Kopi Kau indeed is a coffee to go after. Pack with local coffee flavor and thick. (only Kauz)

Restaurant WDS (9)

Popiah is decent enough.

Restaurant WDS (11)

Char Koey Teow is one of the well known one in the coffee shop where you can see alot of old folks are ordering it. Indeed its a great plate of CKT where filled with wok hei and decent big prawns and alot of cockles. @ RM 8

Restaurant WDS (12)

Here comes the WanTon noodle where we ordered both dry and soup (where it is the recommended ones) . Love the texture of noodle where it is springy to my liking and also found out that the noodle used here is made according to their specification with 100% duck egg only, which explains the naturally occurring yellow than usual color and do not have ‘kansui’ taste. Add on their char siew for my usual order and it is not the best but good enough for my noodle. RM 7 – RM 10 per bowl – depending what ingredient you add in.

Restaurant WDS (13)

Restaurant WDS (14)

Find that their soup base is good enough where it is pack with clear soup flavour as it need.

Restaurant WDS (15)

Love their Wonton, as it is big enough and generous in ingredients also have a decent size prawn in it.

Restaurant WDS (16)

Restaurant WDS (17)

Last we ordered a Curry Mee end our meal, where the look is quite lemak in curry and pack with curry leaves flavour. Top with alot of cockles.

After took over by the new owner, this kopitiam or coffeeshop still have its vibe with many good hawker stalls. Still one of a good hawker center to come after!

Famous Yau Char Kwai or Youtiao @ Chow Yang, SS2

Back to street snacks. Who do not love classic street snacks where you get a taste of crunchy bites with very good satisfied feeling. I am referring to this particular stall that I have been snacking it since 4-5 years ago during my old company times. Well, I regard this no name stall with the owner till date still do not want to tell me his stall name that sits right infront of Da Ma Chai at SS2 Chow Yang or behind Kayu, is a famous yau char kwai or youtiao in this neigbourhood.

Youtiao (2)

What we will usually do is, order x amount of items that you want which is the usual in this stall with be “Ham chi Peng filled with red bean/glutinous rice or plain” or you tiao.

Youtiao (3)

What makes them special to me is that they are able to me the taste similar to one of my favorite back in Penang. Their trick is the dough that they have done up. It is so smooth, rest to perfection and look flawless.

Youtiao (4)

Youtiao (5)

Youtiao (6)

Youtiao (7)

Love the texture of yau char guai and usually I would pair it over Kopi O kau during my tea time. Love the taste of their glutinous rice where it is not to sticky, sweet where it is just perfect with mild fagrant oil taste and the crisp at the edges.

Youtiao (8)

Usually I will make a take away of 3-5 pieces each and average waiting time could be 30 minutes to 60 minutes and limited portion available a day. usually it is sold out by 1.30pm . So do try your luck as this is one of my favourite.

Per piece is RM 0.90
